Prayers:

1.   Sing songs of praise and worship to bless God.

2.   Hindrance to my operating in God’s power of revelation, melt away by fire in the name of Jesus.

3.   I receive blessings and liftings by the favor of God in the name of Jesus.

Text: Isaiah 52:13

Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

David was prudent.  He remembered his friends and well wishers by distributing gifts to them obtained from the enemies

Nabal was not prudent by refusing to share from his blessings, insulting the anointed of God and God killed him.  On the other hand God blessed David greatly

To be prudent means:

·        acting with or showing care and thought for the future.

·        Being discreet or cautious in managing one's activities; circumspect.

·        Being practical and careful in providing for the future.

·        exercising good judgment or common sense.

Examples include:

·        actions marked by wisdom or judiciousness.

·        prudent advice

·        shrewd in the management of practical affairs

·        prudent investors

·        being marked by circumspection: being discreet

Synonyms for prudent include: careful, cautious, discreet, economical, frugal, judicious, reasonable, and sane.

May grace for each of the above come upon your life and be upon your life in the name of Jesus.

Definition: Prudence tells us what is good, when to do it, and how to do it. Prudence helps you to know and choose the right ways to reach a good end or goal. For example, getting an A on your next test is a good goal but cheating would be a bad way to get it.

Notes

Aristotle defined prudence as recta ratio agibilium, “right reason applied to practice.” The emphasis on “right” is important. We cannot simply make a decision and then describe it as a “prudential judgment.” Prudence requires us to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong.

This is a Year when God will reward faithful service (Exodus 23:25, Hebrews 6:10).

Benefits of Prudence

1.     Deliverance from danger: Proverbs 22:3 A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton (naive, thoughtless, stupid, unthinking, foolish, inexperienced) goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

2.     Being crowned/adorned with the knowledge that provides direction. Proverbs 14:18 Simpletons are clothed with foolishness, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

The prudent are filled with knowledge: Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

3.     Dictates the best pathway of life and how to live. Proverbs 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent helps him know how to live, but a fool's stupidity deceives him.

4.     Ability/grace to ignore insults: Proverbs 12:16 The [arrogant] fool’s anger is quickly known [because he lacks self-control and common sense], But a prudent man ignores an insult.

·        David and Nabal

·        David and Shimei

·        Samuel and Saul when Saul tore Samuel's garment.

·        Moses when taunted by older siblings Aaron and Miriam on his marriage to an Ethiopian woman.

5.     Grace and giftings of prudency are from the Lord: Proverbs 19:14 House and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

6.     Enables actions with facts and knowledge: Proverbs 13:16 Every prudent and self-disciplined man acts with knowledge, But a [closed-minded] fool [who refuses to learn] displays his foolishness [for all to see].

7.     The prudent know when to keep quiet. Amos 5:13Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times, for the times are evil.

8.     Bridles his/her tongue and says only what is necessary at the right time: Proverbs 12:23 A prudent man keeps what he knows to himself, but the hearts of fools shout forth their foolishness.

9.     Not easily deceived: Proverbs 14:15 The naive or inexperienced person [is easily misled and] believes every word he hears, But the prudent man [is discreet and astute and] considers well where he is going.

10.  Prudence qualifies for positioning in an exalted place in the palace. 1 Samuel 16:18 One of the young men answered, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the LORD is with him.”

11.  Prudence preserves alive and well and is obedient to authority: Proverbs 15:5 A fool scorns his father's instruction; but he that keeps his commandments is more prudent. In abounding righteousness is great strength: but the ungodly shall utterly perish from the earth.

12.  The prudent walk in the way of the Lord and do not stumble: Hosea 14:19 Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them.

13.  The prudent are wise: Proverbs 16:21 The wise in heart will be called prudent, And the sweetness of the lips increases learning.

14.  The prudent are quiet when they need to: Proverbs 17:28 Even a [callous, arrogant] fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips he is regarded as sensible (prudent, discreet) and a man of understanding.

15.  The prudent know how to secure their future and take steps towards it. Luke 16:8 And the lord commended the unrighteous steward that he did prudently, because the sons of this age are more prudent than the sons of the light in respect to their generation.

16.  Those who serve the Lord are prudent and get exalted very high. Isaiah 52:13 Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.

As you serve God

·        In singing songs of praise and worship.

·        As ushers, teachers, pastors, etc.

·        Faithful in tithes and offerings.

·        Supporting the work of God.

As you do these things, and much more, God will give you the grace to deal prudently.

·        God will exalt you.

·        God will extoll you.

God will lift you high to levels where no man can bring you down e g. Daniel in Babylon was the first among three presidents to lead the entire 120 provinces in Babylon. Joseph was made the prime minister in Egypt second only to the King of Egypt.

God is more than able to lift you up above your wildest dreams.

May God do these for you and much more as you serve Him in the name of Jesus.
